Welcome to Blue Line Bike Lab

Some folks like to blend in. They want to look like every other person, dress like every other person, and ride what everybody else rides. They sacrifice desire and passion to maintain their mediocrity, and they distrust originality. They refuse to stand out and they will never shine, and that is all right. It is just not who we are. We are the Blue Line Bicycle Laboratory. Founded in November of 2005, Blue Line Bikes is bringing a whole new attitude to the Houston bike scene. We are young and we are bold and we are tired of the stale, corporate bike shops that have been dominating the Houston bike scene. We will not be told what to ride or how to ride.

The Bike Lab, housed in an old supermarket in the Heights, is a small shop with a big heart. Owned by brothers David and Fred Zapalac, Blue Line is a family venture with something to offer almost everyone. We carry full lines of great road bikes and crosscountry mountainbikes, but we saved lots of floor space for the stuff that we think is really cool like fixies, single speeds, and trials bikes. You know, bikes that defy the norm. We are also really into freeride and BMX bikes, and we have the parts and the bike selection to prove it.

If you value a brightly lit, homogenized shopping experience where everybody wears matching polo shirts, and if you would like to buy a bike from a guy that was selling cell phones last week and will be selling running shoes next month, or if you only want to ride what your neighbors ride, then this might not be the shop for you. Then again, maybe you just have not yet discovered the artist that lives in your soul or the warrior that lives in your blood. Come on in to the Bike Lab, and let us help you unleash your inner cyclist.
